Allie's favorite stuffed animal

She "borrowed" this from Aunt Marissa's room and hasn't given it back. Good thing Marissa is so gracious in sharing. Allie loves this leopard. She hugs it and rolls all over with it...you'll see...

This is why we don't have nice things

Because a sheet, laundry basket, and hangers do the job just fine!

Shelf Space

As I reorganized our closet, I thought this would look good on the shelf. Trevor didn't agree. It takes up a lot less room than our crib.

Snowy Days

Time spent bundling Allie and myself: 20 min
Time spent undressing after: 10 min
Time actually spent in the snow: 5-10 min
Worth seeing the delight in my pink abominable snowmans face? Absolutely!

She laughs her head off the whole time she's out there. We just need to get boots in her size so she can walk.

Candids

I love this first picture. Trevor says it looks like she's power weight lifting.

(BOTTOM) I left the room for a sec and came back to find her puting herself away. So helpful.

Allie'n Emma

Emma wasn't sure what to think of this, but when I stopped to take a picture, she pulled all smiles. She always smiles for the camera. It cracks me up. I just love watching these two little bodies playing!

Allie is a pro now

So, as you know, Allie took her first steps more than two months ago. Since then, she'd walk a bit one week, and then act like she didn't know how the next. She just never cared for it when crawling did the job just fine. Well, her cousin Emma, who is two months older than she, is a walking pro. The second she saw Emma walking around, Allie just took off like a pro too. And now, I fear, she won't go back. She's discovered it's SO much easier to carry things around when not crawling. So, she pretty much always has a stuffed animal in hand.

Homesick

I saw this cookie sheet fail on failblog today, and I don't know why, but it made me suddenly miss my mom.

Happy and Sad

On the sad note, last night Allie had her first real injury. She burnt her little fingers on the fireplace. She screamed for hours and for a while there was nothing we could do right. This morning she's very happy and acting normal, but her poor little fingertips are blistered. I hate feeling helpless.

On a happy note, I can now feel the baby kick, which leads me to believe I'm farther along than I initially thought I was. I wasn't expecting to feel anything for another 4-6 weeks... We'll be getting an ultrasound in January to figure out the due date and possibly even the gender! So excited!

Allie loves apples

She'll gnaw on an apple for hours if we'd let her. She's eaten all the way to the core and gotten very upset when I fished the seeds out of her mouth and threw it all away. It's a sin to take it away from her at all. She won't share with me, but she shares with Dad...once in a while.

Daddy and Daughter

I just love this picture. They were being so cute and I was sitting at this angle where I could just see both of their legs crossed as she sat on his lap and told him about her whole day. It's these simple things I cherish more than anything.

The splash park

One thing I love about this city is that, since it's a college town, they are very aware of how poor we students are, so they provide a lot of free and cheap things to do. While it was still warm, I took Allie to the splash park. She didn't exactly have a blast. Most everything terrified her except for a leak in one of the slides, and some very low fountains. Next summer will be a lot more fun I think.

So sweet

One day, we lost Allie for a few minutes. We searched the usual places; Marissa's room, the toilet, the bookshelves, Tyler's closet (he hides goodies in there, she's learned), but to no avail. Instead, we found her in our room sitting in the clean clothes reading a book.

Two porcupines in one day

We woke up one morning a couple of weeks ago to much excitement as the dog discovered a HUGE porcupine in our back yard. (Don't worry, the dog didn't get hurt at all.) He was so big. He loved the flower bed and spent the whole day camped out in the rosebush. As the evening came, he wandered away toward the cow pasture behind us. Sometime in the afternoon, we discovered a porcupine had found it's way inside our house! It was by far the cutest porcupine I've ever seen. We kept it.

Finally! Her first steps!

Though I really must post another one. She looks so much better at walking now. She really learns so fast.
