I saw this cookie sheet fail on failblog today, and I don't know why, but it made me suddenly miss my mom.

Happy and Sad
On the sad note, last night Allie had her first real injury. She burnt her little fingers on the fireplace. She screamed for hours and for a while there was nothing we could do right. This morning she's very happy and acting normal, but her poor little fingertips are blistered. I hate feeling helpless.
On a happy note, I can now feel the baby kick, which leads me to believe I'm farther along than I initially thought I was. I wasn't expecting to feel anything for another 4-6 weeks... We'll be getting an ultrasound in January to figure out the due date and possibly even the gender! So excited!

Daddy and Daughter
The splash park
One thing I love about this city is that, since it's a college town, they are very aware of how poor we students are, so they provide a lot of free and cheap things to do. While it was still warm, I took Allie to the splash park. She didn't exactly have a blast. Most everything terrified her except for a leak in one of the slides, and some very low fountains. Next summer will be a lot more fun I think.
So sweet
Two porcupines in one day
We woke up one morning a couple of weeks ago to much excitement as the dog discovered a HUGE porcupine in our back yard. (Don't worry, the dog didn't get hurt at all.) He was so big. He loved the flower bed and spent the whole day camped out in the rosebush. As the evening came, he wandered away toward the cow pasture behind us. Sometime in the afternoon, we discovered a porcupine had found it's way inside our house! It was by far the cutest porcupine I've ever seen. We kept it.

Finally! Her first steps!
Though I really must post another one. She looks so much better at walking now. She really learns so fast.
We survived the first year!
Allie is one today! What a year it has been and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love that little creature so very much. She's such a goof AND a tease. Whenever I tell her her hands are cold, she'll lift up my shirt and put them on my belly. She laughs at anything and everything. She's so happy and energetic. She's still a Daddy's girl and makes sure she tells him about her whole day. She knows how to give kisses now and gives them abundantly. She has four teeth. She says mom, dad, no, hello, and hi! She even talks in her sleep. One night we heard her say in her sleep, "Dad! (two minutes later in a sadder voice) mom, no, no, no" And that about sums up who she favors. She's a walking fiend, especially to walk after Grandma Ruth. She's got the grandparents wrapped around her little finger, and she works it! She's very friendly. She'll go up to people in church and yell "HI!" and then smile. She knows how to call dad. Whenever she picks up my phone she puts it to her ear and says "Hello Dad" and then procedes with a long story (Trevor has a great voicemail of it). I love you Allie Rae and I'm so glad you're mine!
PS, You'll have to click on the collage because for some reason it cut off a few rows of pictures.
