We survived the first year!

Allie is one today! What a year it has been and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love that little creature so very much. She's such a goof AND a tease. Whenever I tell her her hands are cold, she'll lift up my shirt and put them on my belly. She laughs at anything and everything. She's so happy and energetic. She's still a Daddy's girl and makes sure she tells him about her whole day. She knows how to give kisses now and gives them abundantly. She has four teeth. She says mom, dad, no, hello, and hi! She even talks in her sleep. One night we heard her say in her sleep, "Dad! (two minutes later in a sadder voice) mom, no, no, no" And that about sums up who she favors. She's a walking fiend, especially to walk after Grandma Ruth. She's got the grandparents wrapped around her little finger, and she works it! She's very friendly. She'll go up to people in church and yell "HI!" and then smile. She knows how to call dad. Whenever she picks up my phone she puts it to her ear and says "Hello Dad" and then procedes with a long story (Trevor has a great voicemail of it). I love you Allie Rae and I'm so glad you're mine!

Halloween 09

We were running kinda late and didn't end up painting our faces yellow, but you get the idea. The wig was a bit of work, but it turned out so much better than I expected!

Halloween

Halloween is around the corner and I can't decide what Allie should be for her first costume! I've narrowed it down to three, so vote and help me decide! Thanks!

Today

I really really wanted to post a video with this post, but Trevor was home sick with the flu, so between pampering him, taking care of Allie, and feeding this little energy-sucker inside my body, I just didn't get the time. But I will post the video soon of Allies FIRST STEPS!!!! That's right! She took her first steps today. I just had to post this today because this blog is also kind of a journal and I wanted to remember the date. I can't believe how big she's getting. I'm not ready for her to grow up yet!

Official Announcement

I realized I haven't officially announced that we're expecting again! We wanted our children close in age (they'll be about 18 months apart), only the memory of being pregnant and going through labor was still too vivid in my memory to go through that again. Like a good husband, Trevor volunteered to take his turn. He's so sweet and thoughtful.

This morning

No matter how Trevor tried this morning, he could not get Allie to say "dad." Everytime he'd repeat "dad dad dad," she'd just look at him and repeat "mom mom mom."

Delighted, I asked, "Allie, who do you love more?"

"Dad dad dad."

Settling in

Well, we've made it to Idaho! I've escaped Texas/Mexico. It's freezing up here. I got so used to the heat and humidity that everything else feels cold. But we're happy and doing well. I miss the friends I made in Texas. I miss Caden.

Also, Happy Birthday Bonster Monster!!!!!!!!! I miss you every day of my life! I can't believe you are ten!

APX penny dive

They threw a bunch of pennies and some one dollar coins in our pool. The boys got to keep the dollars, but whoever got the most pennies won an iPod touch. Everyone else got other prizes. We got a single serving blender....way better than an iPod!

More Allie

This next video is a sob story she tells to her pacifier. It's pretty sad, but if it's boring to you, I suggest you skip to about 35 seconds in. She pulls the most adorable face. It cracks me up.

The Hairy Bet

After seeing this awesome hair on a show I was watching with some friends, bet I could do that. They didn't have as much faith in me, but I sure showed them.

Allie and Caden

This is Allie's buddy Caden. His mom and I switch babysitting a lot. It doesn't quite replace grandma, but it'll do. They are so funny. I just love watching their little bodies go and go and go. Now that they can crawl, Allie loves following Caden everywhere. They're just so adorable. I'm going to miss him.

Also, Caden can be kind of a bully, which I love, actually. He always steals whatever toy Allie has. Now Allie has become more agressive. He doesn't steal toys so easily, and she has tackled him to the ground before, though I don't believe she meant to. I love it because I have a lot of nephews, so Allie might just have to be tough. I only worry about Emma handling her when we return.
